On October 20, 2025, the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan hosted the international scientific-practical conference titled “"Museum studies in the 21st century: research, traditions and innovations"”
The event focused on applying innovative technologies in museum management, drawing on the experience of research laboratories established at the world’s leading museums. Participants discussed contemporary approaches to museology and the integration of innovation into museum studies.
The conference addressed a wide range of topics, including museum management, rebranding, marketing, and the general principles of operating in the field of tourism.
Within the framework of the conference, scholars exchanged views on museology, preservation, and the museumification of historical and cultural heritage sites. The participants – young researchers, master’s and doctoral students, and specialists from both Uzbekistan and abroad – discussed ways to enhance the quality and effectiveness of scientific research in this field.
The event also served as a platform for studying the experiences of young researchers in Uzbekistan, developing recommendations for the implementation of innovative approaches in museology, and promoting the introduction of intellectual systems and software development into museum practices. Conclusions and proposals were formulated on adopting the experience of leading foreign museums in Uzbekistan.
More than 100 scientific articles were submitted to the conference. It was attended by experts and professors from India, China, the Russian Federation, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and other foreign countries, alongside local professionals and specialists.
The conference brought together representatives of higher education and research institutions from Uzbekistan and abroad engaged in museology, history, archaeology, ethnography, cultural studies, and art history, fostering collaboration and contributing to the further development of museum science in the country.
