A Cultural and Educational Event Dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of Braille Script Held at the Tashkent Museum

Ahead of World Blind Day (November 16) and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), it has become a good tradition in Uzbekistan to hold various cultural and educational events aimed at supporting people with disabilities.

On November 11, a special event and exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the invention of Braille script were held at the Tashkent Museum, a branch of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

About the Event

The event was organized by the Tiflomuseum under the Central Board of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Tashkent City, Tashkent Region, and Syrdarya Region branches of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan, as well as the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan.

The main goal of the event was to raise awareness among visually impaired individuals about the activities of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan (SBU), strengthen unity among its members, and enrich their knowledge of Uzbekistan’s history through museum exhibitions.

Exhibition and Presentation

The exhibition featured items used in the daily lives of visually impaired people, such as writing tools, audio discs, board games, and literature printed in Braille. Newly published Braille books were also presented.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s work, its achievements, and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving accessibility for the blind and visually impaired.

Cultural Program

During the event, guests enjoyed live musical performances by artists and ensembles invited by the organizers, creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere.
