On March 25, 2026, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Museums: In the Integration of Tradition, Innovation, and Renovation” was held at the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The conference was organized with the aim of developing modern approaches in museology, discussing innovative methods of preserving and promoting historical and cultural heritage, and facilitating the exchange of international experience.
The event brought together representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, leading scholars, museum professionals, as well as experts from the United States, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.
The conference was opened by the Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Bahrom Abdurakhimovich Abdukhalimov. This was followed by opening remarks from the Director of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Jannat Khamidovna Ismailova, and the Head of the Social Sciences and Humanities Department of the Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Nodira Abdullayevna Mustafayeva.
During the plenary session, presentations were delivered on the modernization of museum activities, the role of artificial intelligence technologies in museums, inclusive museum practices, as well as issues related to the preservation and study of cultural heritage. In particular, international experts addressed topical themes such as “Artificial Intelligence in Museums,” “Communicating Heritage through Tactile Exhibits,” and “The Study of Buddhist Sculpture in Central Asia.”
Within the framework of the conference, panel sessions were organized focusing on the development factors of museology, musealization of cultural heritage, and museum pedagogy. These sessions facilitated discussions on scientific challenges, practical experiences, and innovative approaches.
It was noted that nearly 100 scientific articles and abstracts were submitted for the conference. The materials accepted by the editorial board are planned to be published in both electronic and printed formats.
At the conclusion of the conference, it was emphasized that the proposals and recommendations put forward by the participants will play a significant role in improving museum practices, advancing scientific research, and promoting cultural heritage to a wider public.
